Female – 10-12 years old

My daughter has been having play therapy with Julie for two years and it has just come to an end. In the future, if my daughter struggles again, I would 100% be straight back in touch with Julie.

When my daughter started play therapy, she was self-harming and experiencing very bad anxiety, and PTSD responses due to trauma she had experienced. Julie very quickly and skilfully built a trusting and therapeutic relationship with her which left her totally comfortable with her and able to fully engage with the therapy.

During her time with Julie, her self-confidence has grown, and she has become more able to express herself and knows she has a voice and will be listened to.

She has learnt how to manage her anxiety so that it no longer severely affects her day-to-day life and also subconsciously has dealt with some of the affects the trauma she experienced had on her. She is a lot calmer, and isn’t living in a state of permanent hyper arousal.

Before my daughter started coming to Julie’s, I was seriously concerned for her mental health and what this meant for her long term and where her self-harming could lead to. Since her time with Julie, her self-harming had stopped and I feel positive about her mental health and that her therapy had put her in the best possible place going forward.

I have recommended Julie to several people and will continue to do so. She is truly amazing at what she does.
